DR. SR. KRIPA MARIA

Dear members of Carmel Family (Ujjain),

I am elated to interact with you through the school website for the first time. As you are aware, I Dr. Sr. Kripa Maria officially took up the charge of Carmel Convent Sr. Sec School, Kamed, Ujjain on 10th June 2023. I deem it a pleasant privilege to be a part of Carmel Family, Ujjain.

Our School has accomplished 25 years of service in the field of education and definitely made some indelible marks in the history of Ujjain and in the life thousands of students and people of this holy city. The strong legacy of this institution is imprinted by the strenuous efforts of its Principals right from Rev. Christine to the just former Principal Rev. Sr. Shanthi, many teachers, staff members, vibrant students, parents and many benefactors. With admiration and gratitude I acknowledge their wonderful and dedicated service they offered to uphold Camel’s banner high. I earnestly request sincere cooperation and teamwork of all its stakeholders in the years to come.

Dear students,

At the very outset, I would like to share with you an anecdote from the life story of the Hollywood actress Katharine Hepburn who holds 12 Oscar nominations and four Oscar winnings. In her teens Catherine went with her father to a famous circus tent. While standing in the queue, in front, she saw a family with eight children with their parents smiling and enjoying in perfect order and discipline. They had made a beautiful impression in Katharine’s mind. When their father asked for eight children’s tickets with two adults’ tickets shockingly he realized the scarcity of money. Katharine’s father realised the agony of that father which was not noticed by his wife or children. Very gently and wisely with respect he created a situation to save the father’s dignity and enthusiasm of the eight children and his wife eagerly waiting to enjoy the circus, and gave the twenty dollars he kept to buy the ticket for him and his daughter. And both of them went home back as he did not have extra money for their own ticket. “Although we did not get to see the circus that night, we both felt a joy inside us that was far greater than seeing the circus could ever provide,” wrote Katharine.

I don’t know how my students and parents will analyse or comment about the above narrated incident. But the words of Katharine made a deep imprint in my heart: an imprint carved by the joy of giving, and an insight of the imprints parents can sculpt in the minds of their children. We are in world that is running after success and gain. Undue craving for wealth, success, name, fame, status etc. blind the human minds often. We have numerous examples around us.  In such a world, we are called to be beautiful examples of love, peace, harmony, gentleness, concern, sharing, and to become living examples of ‘joy of giving’. These are the values always Carmel upholds.

The school always endorses holistic development of students. Along with the curricular and co-curricular achievements Carmelites are expected to be epitome of right motives, right goals and right values.

Dear students, I earnestly request you as proud Carmelites to learn the lessons of love and concern for others above all else. I would like to conclude with a most probably a familiar quote of St. Chavara, “Let there be no day in your life in which you did no good to others.” Let everyone grow gracefully as divine instruments of love, peace and harmony.

May you be a blessing for the entire humanity.

Thank you

God bless!

Dr. Sr. Kripa Maria
